Making Christmas Memories
I've found a few great sites to help make Christmas more memorable. TeachingMom.com's Advent Calendar has a list of songs, crafts, games, books, art, and more for each day of Advent. This list of Holiday Etexts inlcudes many classic Christmas stories, available online. Many families enjoy creating a Jesse Tree, and I found this set of directions and patterns helpful (under "Jesse Tree Kit.") Finally, Homeschooled-Kids.com has directions for making an Advent wreath, and a reading and craft for each day.
We also found a great little book at the library, 101 Ways to Have a Christian Christmas by Brenda Verner, which would make a thoughtful gift, too.
Also, a list of books, which is still growing, to read during December:
classics:
The Gift of the Magi
A Christmas Carol
picture books:
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey
The Story of Holly & Ivy (Rumer Godden)
The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree (Gloria Houston)
An Early American Christmas (Tomie dePaola)
Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree (Robert Barry)
The Glorious Impossible (Madeline L'Engle)
The Family Under the Bridge (Natalie Savage Carlson)
Christmas Around the World (Mary D. Lankford)
One Wintry Night (Ruth Bell Graham)
